Attention Vancouver Art Gallery Members: Another Day on the Line

Wednesday, February 6, 2019

Thanks to all those who volunteered Monday night to make the lovely signs, and congratulations on the tremendous amount of support today from our community.  We held a solid picket line Tuesday and were able to identify replacement workers which were promptly removed. However, there has been no comment from the employer and our Strike Committee is preparing for another day on the line. Our Bargaining Committee is working diligently to resolve the dispute and is extremely grateful for the agency you have provided which allows us to do our work.

Wednesday's shifts will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Make sure to sign in at the table in front of the Robson Street doors. If it's your first day on the line, make sure you sign the strike form so that you can receive pay. You can work any four hour shift per day up to five days per week, regardless of your schedule at the Gallery. Anyone who works a full 20 hours in five days is eligible for a week's worth of strike pay. Please check in with the picket captain for more information. Strike pay is $75 per day starting from day one, not $60 per day for the first three days as communicated yesterday.

If you're coming out at night, bring along any battery powered lights you have so we can make our presence known. We only get one chance at this, so let's make it as impactful as we can!
