CUPE 15 & the VSB Sign Off on Revised Local School Calendar for 2010/2011

Last week representatives from CUPE 15 and the Vancouver School Board signed off on a Letter of Understanding (LOU) regarding the implementation of a revised school calendar for 2010/2011.

This calendar change originates from the VSB’s budget discussions and was specifically proposed to mitigate some of the funding shortfall from the Provincial Government. Over a series of meetings the parties have agreed on the way the school calendar will be implemented and the effect on current working conditions for members.

The agreed LOU reflects the majority of the points approved by CUPE 15 members on April 13, 2010. The use of Earned Time Off (ETO) for members at the Education Centre, Workshop, SET BC, PRCVI, AT BC, CAYA, and Vancouver Leaning Network, has not yet been determined. This also applies to 12 month employees in secondary schools.

These details will be worked out mutually between our union and the VSB and will be communicated to members once finalized. Please contact a CUPE 15 shop steward for any questions.
