Langara Agreement Ratified
We wish to advise all CUPE Local 15 members of Langara College that the Memorandum of Agreement reached between Langara College and CUPE Local 15 has been successfully ratified at a membership meeting held July 21, 2011.
Information packages were provided to all members in attendance at the meeting and an opportunity to discuss the details also took place.
If any member who was unable to attend the meeting would like a copy of the Memorandum of Agreement, please contact your shop steward or Bargaining Committee member to obtain a copy.
I would like to take this opportunity once again to thank the Bargaining Committee - Brian McGibney, Chrissy Poulos, Bob Loitz, Reba Noel, Ken Schmunk, Zeljka Loncaric and Jim Wong for their hard work, commitment and determination to find the best possible collective agreement for the CUPE Local 15 members at Langara College.
You have heard it said repeatedly that this was a very unique and difficult set of circumstances to try and negotiate a collective agreement in. We must not forget that the direction the College received to negotiate a “Net Zero” collective agreement came from the current Provincial Government.
Preparations will begin in the Fall for the next round of negotiations which are set to take place in 2012.
We welcome and encourage all members to participate in the strategic planning that will take place for that next round of negotiations.
Once again thank you on behalf of the Langara College/CUPE Local 15 Bargaining Committee to all of the members for your support and solidarity during these negotiations.
We will keep everyone posted on the planning process for next year.
In solidarity,
Kathie Currie
Staff Representative on behalf of Brian McGibney, Chrissy Poulos, Ken Schmunk, Bob Loitz, Reba Noel, Zeljka Loncaric and Jim Wong
