Langara Strike Vote March 30th
I am writing to inform you that due to the lack of progress in our negotiations with Langara College and the possibility of strike action by the Langara Faculty Association we will be conducting a strike vote on Wednesday, March 30th.
The decision to conduct a strike vote has been seriously evaluated by our Langara Bargaining Committee and Executive Board. As you have heard through our bargaining bulletins and worksite meetings we are frustrated with the lack of consideration and response by the College to your proposals.
After many months of unsuccessful negotiations and four days of failed Mediation at the BC Labour Relations Board your Bargaining Committee has reached out to you, the members, for feedback and input. The message they have received very clearly from the CUPE Local 15 members at Langara is that the College and the Provincial Government are being unrealistic and disinterested in the needs of the workers and their families at Langara.
That is why we will be conducting a strike vote following the final membership meeting on March 30th at Langara.
MEETING: Wednesday, March 30, 2011
TIME: Noon – 1:30 p.m.
ROOM: C509
-------------------------------------------------------
STRIKE VOTE WILL BE CONDUCTED MARCH 30th AT THESE TIMES:
1. Room C509: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
2. Employees’ Lounge: 2:45 – 5:00 p.m.
I encourage all members to attend the information meeting and participate in this vote. It is essential that your Bargaining Committee receive a strong mandate from you to do the job that you have given them.
Once again please do everything possible to attend this important meeting and vote.
In solidarity,
Paul Faoro
