Museum of Vancouver Member Update

Thursday, May 7, 2020

Dear Members:

We hope that you are well and finding ways to keep safe despite the difficult circumstances surrounding our current health crisis. We are sure you are eager, as are we, to understand what is coming next and when we can begin our journey back to work. The public health guidelines are evolving from province to province and we are all patiently waiting to see what opens and how it will affect our daily lives. We encourage you to continue following our health advisors and review the links below for up-to-date information from CUPE.

We have been in constant dialogue with the Museum around how the closure has affected your livelihood and what the best practices are to provide a continuance of operations. Your OHS Committee developed a strategic framework for reinstating fabrication onsite. This document is a joint effort describing how to approach work during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. The Museum is dedicated to moving forward in conjunction with the guidelines developed by your OHS Committee, the Provincial Health Officer, and  WorkSafeBC’s safety requirements. We are certain that they are willing to address individual concerns as they arise.

The union is here to support you, the members. If there is anything that has impacted your situation at work, please do contact us. We have attached some documents from CUPE that you may find helpful (Cleaning vs Disinfecting and Right to Refuse Work FAQ). Please bring your questions and concerns forward; our advocacy is built on your needs and we will do what we can to support you through the upcoming transition.

In Solidarity,

Gail Johnson                                                      Noel Graves
