Dear colleagues - The support from the communities around us has grown and grown. We’ve invited members of several unions, artist-run centres, creative businesses and grass-roots organizations to come and support our picket this Saturday, February 9, at 12 p.m. Spread the word to those who reach out: all are welcome to walk the line and speak directly with the Gallery workers about what has brought them out.

We hope most everyone had a chance to review yesterday’s bulletin. The Bargaining Committee appreciates the feedback from the membership in regards to the Final Offer. If you have any more questions about our recommendation, we encourage you to speak directly to a member of the committee. We make all our decisions from the ground up and need to be informed of your concerns. Thanks again for the overwhelming support, it has bolstered our strength as a committee through these trying times.

We will be on the line again tomorrow with shifts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Strike pay is $75 per day for all employees currently on the Gallery payroll and who have CUPE Local 15 membership. Whether you’re scheduled to work this week or not, come down and support the picket line for four hours to receive your strike pay.

The Strike Committee has identified a payroll officer and is working on organizing cheques. Payroll runs from Tuesday to Monday. If you work any four hour shift for up to five days during that time, you’re eligible for strike pay. We’ve had huge numbers on the line since day one. However, we encourage you to pace yourself. The cold weather is hard on our bodies and we need to recuperate. We suggest you scatter a day or two off in the week in order to get well deserved rest. Stay hydrated, feed yourselves and warm up as needed.

The Bargaining Committee has been in contact with the employer and is working towards possible resolution. The Labour Board has not been able to confirm a date for the Final Offer vote and the Union is working on expediting that process to hold the vote as soon as possible.

Please share the invite to Saturday’s Happening with friends, family and associates. We’re grateful for the platform upon which we’ve built our solidarity. Keep up the hard work!
