Update for VSB Members – BCTF Job Action
We have received several calls at our office from CUPE 15 members raising issues pertaining to supervision and specifically increased responsibilities added by the employer. Please be advised we have been working full out on this matter over the last two days and we are hopeful a resolution will be reached soon.
In the mean time if you are asked by your administrator to perform duties beyond your normal ones please ask the administrator for the directive in writing and forward a copy to our union office.
We will keep you updated via this website. As well similar information is posted on our CUPE 15 Facebook page. To find us there, just search for CUPE 15.
We have to remember that it is the BC Liberal Government who has set the negative tone for all public sector negotiations in British Columbia. The teachers are now facing it and our VSB Bargaining Committee has felt its effects as well.
CUPE 15 has a very good working relationship with the teacher unions in Vancouver and we are going to do everything we can to support them in their efforts. We know if we reach the same point our union will have the full support of the teachers. At the end of the day teachers and CUPE 15 members employed at the Vancouver School Board deserve fair and respectful contract settlements. Ones that are negotiated at the bargaining table.
In solidarity,
