Urgent Update – Proposed Layoffs
CUPE 15 Members – Vancouver School Board

Please be advised that the meetings scheduled for the week of May 31st by the employer for members whose positions were identified to be impacted by the 2010/2011 budget have been postponed.

CUPE 15 requested that the Vancouver School Board postpone these meetings in order for the union to gain greater clarity from the employer on the application of the applicable language contained in the collective agreement. CUPE 15 representatives are meeting with the employer over the coming days and further information will be sent out as it develops.

The proposed layoffs are unprecedented and our union wants to ensure the process contained in the collective agreement is applied in the spirit of which it was agreed. This includes the application of seniority.
