Vancouver Art Gallery On Strike

Monday, February 4, 2019

Dear Local 15 Members at the Vancouver Art Gallery:

This notice is to inform you that as of 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019 the unionized workers of the Vancouver Art Gallery will be enacting a work stoppage. Please come to the Gallery at your regularly scheduled time and sign in with a picket captain. Four hour shifts will be available throughout the day. Tuesday's shifts will be from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., and 5:00. – 9:00 p.m. Picket captains have been assigned shifts as we will need support for each time slot.

All CUPE Local 15 card-carrying workers of the Vancouver Art Gallery are eligible for strike pay if on the picket line for a minimum of four hours. You will be paid $75 per day for a total of five days per week.

We are on strike. A strike means we cease all work including direct correspondence, emails, phone calls, and text messages. We ask that you do not report to managers during this time as it will prolong the work stoppage. It is our goal to get a fair deal and we hope to be back to work as soon as possible. Wear warm clothes!

Please contact the Bargaining Committee through the chair, Noel Graves, at with any questions.

In solidarity,
