Vancouver Park Board Votes to Enhance Public Service

Last night the Vision led Vancouver Park Board voted to award a contract to locally based Easy Park to manage its pay parking operations in Stanley Park and several other Vancouver parks. This decision ends a previous long term contract with a private for profit contractor who was originally based in the United States.

CUPE 15 President Paul Faoro attended the meeting and made a presentation to the Park Board on the pay parking contract. “This is a matter of good governance and it makes sense to use Easy Park which is effectively owned by the City of Vancouver” said Faoro. “Easy Park operates as a non-profit public authority and the Park Board’s decision will prove to be beneficial to the citizens of Vancouver“ added Faoro.

The Park Board also voted to establish three new regular full time positions within CUPE 15’s jurisdiction. The positions include a Lead Park Ranger, Building Worker at the new Creekside Community Centre, and a Maintenance Tech II at VanDusen.
